European Voluntary Service for All - EVS4ALL (2015-2017)

Action: Erasmus+ KA2 - Strategic partnership for youth

Project coordinator: IKAB Bildungswerk

Summary

Summary

Despite positive examples of involving disadvantaged target groups in volunteering projects or similar mobility schemes (e.g. the German pilot project Neue Perspektiven, the P.A.V.E. report, the position paper of AVSO, or the German ESF-mobility programme “IdA-Integration through exchange”), the overall inclusion of this target group in EVS activities remains unsatisfying because of different barriers.

The EVS4ALL project focuses on the inclusion of  young people with fewer opportunities in EU mobility projects for young volunteers by taking a first step in the implementation of a ‘European Year of Volunteering for Everyone’, as described in the pan-European campaign "We are Europe! Manifesto for rebuilding Europe from the bottom up" launched by Ulrich Beck, Daniel Cohn-Bendit and the Allianz Kulturstiftung. It called out for a European Year of Volunteering for Everyone appealing to Europe's citizens and stakeholders of civil society  to take a more active and participatory role in the European project (www.manifest-europa.eu). The campaign demands an enlargement of current and future European Voluntary programmes with the view to creating a European civil society.

Within the framework of Erasmus+ Youth in Action and based on the manifesto the project reaches out for the following objectives:

  • the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities that are so far underrepresented in European voluntary services
  • the involvement of and outreach to further stakeholders to engage in EVS in order to enlarge the capacities of volunteer programmes in Europe; as well as,
  • the promotion of EVS, and specifically the idea of a more inclusive EVS, by using a widespread communication and dissemination strategy.

The project is envisioned to run between February 2015 and February 2017.

You can also have a taste of the EVS4All young volunteers' experiences through their online, interactive diary "Oops, an error occurred!
