European Anti-Bullying Network - EAN (2013-2014)

Action: Daphne III programme |

Project coordinator: The Smile of the Child

Summary

The main objective of EAN was the establishment of a European Anti-bullying Network to contribute to the coordination of anti-bullying actions and develop a common strategy against the problem at the European level. Initially, the partnership involved 17 founding organizations from 12 EU Member States, but over time the network included representatives from all EU Member States, as well as major actors involved in the everyday struggle to tackle the phenomenon.

The initiative was aimed at reaching teachers, parents and public services and entities, and it involved: developing and distributing a Best Practices Guide to children, school communities and public authorities, a pan-European media campaign for introducing a European Anti-bullying Day, and the development of a common European strategy to tackle bullying.

Launched in January 2013, the project ran for 18 months and ended in June 2014, with the official establishment of the European Anti-bullying Network, based in Brussels. The official inauguration of EAN was conducted at an international conference held on 13 June 2014 in Athens (Greece), a celebratory event held under the auspices of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union
