YES Forum News June 2020 | Have your say!

Dear ###USER_first_name### ###USER_last_name###,

We are pleased to be able to say that after three months working from a distance the whole YES Forum Secretariat is physically back in the office! We continue, however, to take all the security measures to protect the health and safety of our team.

Despite the distance, during these three months YES Forum has not stopped. We were in constant communication, not only among the Secretariat, but also with several member organisations of the YES Forum network. We continued to develop our projects and carried out several virtual meetings. Check out below what we have achieved during the last months.

We want to improve this communication!

The YES Forum Secretariat is here to support the work of all members. In line with this, we are very much interested in knowing how your work has been impacted by the news challenges, and what measures you have taken to overcome it.

We kindly ask you to fill the following survey so we can know more about your current situation

Please always remember: You are not alone!

We are looking forward to hearing back from you.

Europe through young Eyes: Exchange, Explore, Exhibit (Europe3E)

On April 22th, the Partner Associations of the Europe3E project held an online meeting to ensure project progress. In this opportunity, each member could express how Covid-19 has impacted their work and how they were dealing with the situation.

In order to ensure the protection of all participants, the first training “What is EU? Peer-Research: The EU and me” was postponed to Strasbourg in November. As a preparation for this training, each partner should hold at least one local meeting with young participants.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place in Vienna in September, hosted by ÖJAB. Fingers crossed the situation will allow us to hold it physically. Nonetheless, if necessary we have developed many ways to overcome the distance!

Supporting Alliance for African Mobility (SAAM)

Gathering 32 VET organisations from two different continents, the SAAM - Supporting Alliance for African Mobility project has a larger challenge at this time. Nonetheless, despite all the difficulties, we had our Kick-Off meeting in May, with more than 80 people involved.

Coordinated by Centro San Viator, a member of the YES Forum, this project aims at strengthening the Africa-EU partnership through a joint alliance to develop a mobility scheme and to share best practices between African and European VET systems.

Social Inclusion and Engagement in Mobility (SIEM)

On the 2nd of June the consortium had its 4th online meeting. The first research component of the project – encompassing two surveys, one directed to Students and the other to University Staff – is almost over.

We will now start the second research component, through focus groups, study visits to universities, and inclusive workshops with students from diverse backgrounds across Europe, in order to bring internationalisation closer to students and young people.

European Youth Work Convention

YES Forum is part of the Steering Committee responsible for organising the 3rd European Youth Work Convention, which shall take place when the German EU Council Presidency and the German Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe overlap at the end of 2020.

The 3rd European Youth Work Convention plays the key role in establishing the European Youth Work Agenda as a strategic framework for further developing and strengthening youth work practice and policies in Europe.

On May 7th the Steering Committee had its 3rd meeting to discuss how Covid-19 has impacted youth work and the well-being of young people and how to cope with it.

Need to reinforce the social dimension of Next Generation EU and to revise the 2021-2027 EU Budget

Being an Associate Member to the Social Platform, the YES Forum adheres to the open letter issued to the European institutions calling to reinforce the social dimension of Next Generation EU and the revised 2021-2027 EU Budget.

It is clear that the Covid-19 pandemic has severely impacted the work of youth work organisations. In order to compensate such effects and to guarantee that they will be able to continue building inclusive socities, the current multiannual financial framework has to be increased.

From mid-July the European institutions will start to negotiate such political agreement to be put in place in January 2021.
