European Solidarity Corps – Legal basis and 1st Calls soon!

Following an agreement between the European Parliament and the Council of EU Ministers, the official adoption of the legal basis for the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is expected in September. The 1st Call for proposals has already been published, with a deadline on the 16th October.

Once adopted, the ESC will become a programme on its own, with the ambition to involve 100.000 young people by the end of 2020. Moreover, besides individual volunteering, traineeships and jobs in the solidarity field, the ESC also allows:

  • Organisations to offer short-term projects for teams of volunteers.
  • Besides organisations, young people themselves – registered in the ESC database - to form a group of at least 5 participants and set up youth-led solidarity activities.

For more information, please check the ESC Guide here.

European Parliament launches the Campaign 'This Time I'm Voting'

On your marks! Only 9 months left before the next European Elections!

In preparation for the European Parliament elections (23rd to 26th May 2019), the European Parliament is putting a focus on encouraging the EU's young citizens to have their voices heard. To do so, the European Parliament launches the campaign “This Time I'm Voting” to persuade young people to make their friends be involved.

We all have our own reasons for voting: what is yours? Get involved with the campaign or spread the word here!

European Youth Event - The #EYE2018 Report is out!

In early June 2018, YES Forum took part in the European Youth Event in Strasbourg, gathering more than 8.000 young Europeans to discuss their ideas for the future of Europe. Based on these ideas, the European Parliament has now published its #EYE2018 Report.

The EYE Report aims at pursuing the dialogue between young citizens and European decision makers. It gathers 100 concrete ideas and proposals, which will be presented to and discussed by Members of the European Parliament in the upcoming months.

YES Forum’s activities and members’ activities

Upcoming at YES Forum – Project Planning Meeting, 10th and 11th October, Groningen (NL)

YES Forum will hold its annual Project Planning Meeting on 10th and 11th October 2018 in Groningen, Netherlands with the support of its members Jongerenwerk and Stichting Go, and its partner Hanzehogeschool.

As usual, practitioners and young people from YES Forum EEIG and Associate members as well as any other interested organisations are all welcome to join the event. During these two days, new project ideas will be developed in a supportive and facilitating atmosphere.

For more information or to register, please check the invitation here.

Save the Date! – YES Forum’s 2018 Policy Event, 21st and 22nd November, Brussels

This year, the YES Forum will once again be happy to welcome its members to its Policy Event on the 21st and 22nd November in Brussels.

Under the theme "Why so serious? EU politics can be fun!", the event will conclude our #YourEPsimulation project, which focused on using an extremely potent method for political education – a simulation of the European Parliament – to make it inclusive and accessible to youngsters facing any kind of difficulties and/or with no prior interest in the European Union.

Join us to discover our results, engage with our young participants and policy-makers, and discuss how such “political games” can contribute to bridging the gap between the European Union and youth! Invitations will be sent later on, but in the meantime, don't forget to Save the Date!

New Project! Gender Sensitive Approaches in Youth Work

From 2018 to 2020, together with BAG EJSA and several other members, YES Forum will work on the project “Gender Sensitive Approaches in Youth Work” in order to create and foster gender-sensitive approaches in youth work across Europe.

This project is targeted at the social practitioners working with young people and youngsters themselves, so that they can explore their attitudes towards gender issues, using a wide range of methods and activities. You can discover more about this project here.

#YourEPsimulation: 1st Publication!

The YourEP project, led by YES Forum and 9 members and partners, published its first outcome: "The YourEP Experiment - Key Lessons for Inclusive & Accessible Political Simulations".

Are you interested in innovative, non-formal AND inclusive EU & political education? Organising your own political simulation, and willing to make it accessible to a wider, more diverse audience? Or simply curious of how YES Forum and its partners adapt "traditional" methods to foster Social Inclusion? There here's a must-read for you: "The YourEP Experiment - Key Lessons for Inclusive & Accessible Political Simulations"!

These few pages present how the YourEP Project, thanks to the cooperation with its partners and young participants themselves, designed the #YourEPsimulation of the European Parliament. It focuses on the key aspects that were explored to make this political simulation Inclusive and Accessible.

H2020 PROMISE – Publication of all Case Studies

The H2020 youth research project H2020 PROMISE, in which YES Forum is a partner, published all its researchers’ case studies on European youth and their reaction to social challenges and conflicts.

The social researchers from the PROMISE partnership conducted 22 ethnographic case studies in 10 different countries in order to investigate concrete examples of how young people react to social challenges and conflicts, and how their reaction can transform into positive social change. All reports on the case studies are now available here.

DIVE – 2nd Training on Inclusion & Diversity with major European Youth Networks

The DIVE project (Diversity in Pan-European Networks) held its 2nd International Training on inclusion and diversity in Athens from the 10th to the 15th July.

YES Forum contributed to this training by sharing its knowledge of diversity and inclusion in the field of youth, its expertise, methods and good practices with the other participants, mostly volunteers involved in the local sections of the three European youth networks JEF Europe, ESN, AEGEE. It also built stronger connections with these networks for further collaboration on diversity and inclusion in the future.

This 2nd training also started reflecting about the future project outputs. For more information, please check the project's website.
